Develop a Game Design Document (How to Pitch a Project)

Par Radar

Schedule: 10h – 12h

Duration: 2 heures

Language: Anglais

Objectives:

Understand what a Game Design Document is and learn the basics in order to create one yourself.

Description:

This workshop introduces the Game Design Document (GDD) and explains its role in clarifying a game idea, aligning a team, and structuring the production process. Through practical application, it also provides key insights into how to effectively present and pitch a creative project.

The instructor will present selected examples along with a simple, reusable structure. Participants will then work in small groups (3–4 people) to develop a quick draft of a mini-GDD, based either on their own ideas or on a concept provided during the session.

The workshop concludes with short presentations guided by the instructor, followed by a Q&A and discussion.

Materials to bring:

Laptop or pen and paper (for drafting GDD outlines)

About the instructor:

Radar began as a creative audiovisual studio, specializing in advertising and innovative films that combine animation and live action, with in-camera special effects (puppetry, animatronics). The studio gained recognition through visually striking genre works that push creative boundaries.

Today, Radar is expanding into video games with the same spirit of innovation, developing animated adaptations, retro-indie experiences, and advergames, while combining a filmmaker’s perspective with a strong gaming culture. Film and animation activities continue within the FDI group (Digital Voodoo, Fabrique d’Images), while Radar leads game development.
